Vojin Kocić
The House of Nobel Laureate Ivo Andrić
Vojin Kocić is considered one of the most prominent guitarists of his generation. He began his musical journey at the age of eight, and crowned his education with bachelor's and master's degrees in guitar (class of Prof. Anders Miolin) and music pedagogy at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). He underwent further professional training with Maestro Oscar Ghiglia at the Chigiana Academy in Siena, where he became the only guitarist in the history of this institution to be awarded the prestigious Diploma d'Onore.
Kocić is characterised by a musical, expressive and at the same time virtuous performance of works from a repertoire that spans compositions from the Renaissance to the 21st century. He belongs to the very top of the international guitar scene, with critics calling him "a master of soft tones" (according to SRF). He has won over 50 international awards, including first prizes at prestigious competitions such as the Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes (2014), Incontri Chitarristici di Gargnano, Ruggero Chiesa, as well as at festivals in Heinsberg and Alessandria (Michele Pittaluga).
In his career so far, he has recorded two albums for the NAXOS record label and performed more than 300 solo and chamber concerts worldwide. He has performed at renowned festivals and venues such as the Lucerne Festival, Verbier Festival, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow and the Music Olympus in St. Petersburg.
Since the autumn semester of 2022, Vojin Kocić has been working as a guitar professor at the Zurich University of the Arts. He plays a guitar crafted by Jean-Noël Rohé and uses D'Addario strings.
