About Herceg Novi
They say that Herceg Novi is one of the most beautiful towns on the Adriatic. An oasis of greenery and blue, a town that is equally beautiful in every season, which is why it is also the ideal place for a festival that lasts all summer.
Beautiful beaches, a Mediterranean climate, parks with exotic greenery and an excellent gastronomic offer make Herceg Novi a destination you will not forget. 250 sunny days a year, 70 beaches and 18 km of coastline, a 6 km-long promenade, 89 religious sites – figures that speak for themselves.
Situated at the foot of Mount Orjen, Herceg Novi opens onto the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Along the coast of this great Adriatic bay are lined some ten protected urban ensembles, each with its own story.
History and valuable cultural monuments bear witness to this town's rich past – Kanli Kula, the fortresses of Španjola, Mamula, Forte Mare, Citadela. It is precisely these towers and squares that provide the natural backdrop for cultural events that make Herceg Novi a town of festivals. Guitar Art Summer Fest, Montenegro Film Festival, Jazz Festival, Mimosa Festival – all of this has been taking place for years under the clear Herceg Novi sky.
The mountain ranges in the hinterland shelter the town from cold northern winds, giving it a mild Mediterranean climate with long, warm summers. Air and sea temperatures can be compared with those of the French Riviera, and the possibility of spending the same day on the beach and on a mountain trail is not a story, it is everyday life.
Herceg Novi is a town that will not let you forget it. Nestled between the sea and the mountain, with a distinctive magic that gets under your skin, quite simply, it is a place with soul.
And precisely because of that soul, Guitar Art Summer Fest has been choosing this town for twenty years.
